Trying to totally level up your decorations? Try an archway! These can be simply painted and built to match any theme!

Materials:

  • Six Large (4.5) Moving Boxes
  • Wardrobe box or mattress box (A lot of movers remove these larger boxes for your comfort. If your move is forthcoming, be certain to request your moving company to not take away these large boxes!)
  • Spray Paint (Whatever colors match your design)
  • Tape
  • Scissors or Box Cutter

Instructions:

  • Assemble the six large moving boxes. Color them however you want. We utilized a mix of black and gray to create a stone and brick look.
  • As those are drying, trace out your desired design on the flattened mattress or wardrobe carton. This will be for the top part that bridges the two stacks of moving boxes (columns) together.
  • Utilizing scissors or a box cutter, CAUTIOUSLY! Take off that pattern.
  • Decorate and paint the top joining pieces.
  • After it dries, stack the large moving boxes on top of each other to create two columns. Attach tape to all of the joints. Paint the tape for a seamless look.
  • Tape the top bridge part to the front and top of the two pillars.

*Tip- Add bricks or weights to the inner part of the bottom moving boxes to increase stability and support to your structure.

  • 2 Medium (3.0) Moving Boxes
  • 2 Paper Plates
  • 2 Paper Towel Rolls
  • Silver Paint or Aluminum Foil
  • Tissue Paper or Packing Paper
  • Box Cutter or Scissors
  • Tape
  • Spray Paint (whatever colors match your theme)
  • Folding Table and Tablecloth (Optional)

Instructions:

  • Assemble and paint the wardrobe boxes and medium boxes in your chosen color.
  • Begin by taping the wardrobe boxes to each other. Then draw where the doors and windshield will go. CAUTIOUSLY! Take off the doors and windshield using scissors or a box cutter.
  • Take the large cardboard rectangle that you cut out for the doors to make the front grill. Color that portion of cardboard black. Use silver tape or paint to create lines to give the look of the truck grill.
  • Place the two medium boxes in front of the wardrobe boxes, to create the front of the truck.
  • Color or paint the paper plates with black markers or paint. Use either silver tape or paint to create the wheels. Secure to the flanks with tape.
  • Wrap the paper towel rolls with aluminum foil or silver paint. Wrinkle up the tissue or packing paper and stuff the top of the roll to create the appearance of exhaust exiting out of the pipes. Tape to the top rear of the wardrobe boxes.
  • We placed a tablecloth and folding table behind the wardrobe boxes to make the trailer for the truck. You can do something similar to match your aesthetic and decorate however you like!
  • Attach accessories like lights and horns to take it to the next level!
